Glypure® GL
A proactive AHA with reduced irritation potential, working in the skin, not on it.
CAS 502-97-6 | INCI: Glycolide | Crystalline solid
Overview
Glypure® GL is a cyclic diester called Glycolide. Instead of putting free acid on the skin, it hydrolyzes on contact with skin moisture and releases glycolic acid in the epidermis over time. That built-in, time-release chemistry lowers irritation potential and improves delivery efficiency, so it suits sensitive-skin, anti-aging and leave-on anhydrous formats.

Benefits
- AHA performance without applying free acid to the skin
- Time-release delivery for anhydrous, leave-on formats
- Reduced irritation potential; not irritating up to 15% in DMI under non-occluded patch conditions
- 5% Glypure® GL delivers the same desquamation benefit as a 7% glycolic acid product
- Clinically shown over 4 weeks: skin roughness reduced 30.55%, hydration up 19.33%, elasticity up 4.48%
- Readily biodegradable: 78% at day 11 (OECD 301B)
